Coughlin has said he believes in building along the offensive and defensive lines. He's going to be somewhere else, with the Dolphins trying to clear up salary cap space (Albert has a cap hit of $10.7 million, and designating him a post-June 1 cut would free up almost $9 million, or $7.2 million regardless).
Albert is a two-time Pro Bowler who spent the last three seasons in Miami after opening his long National Football League career with six years in Kansas City. However, most teams will purge the roster like the Dolphins did in the coming weeks.
The Dolphins get a head-start on free agency by trading for a big-name corner. Williams appeared in 13 games and finished with just 13 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
If House is a part of the deal, the Jaguars would have only No. 1 cornerback Jalen Ramsey and No. 3 Aaron Colvin under contract.
Williams made the Pro Bowl twice with Houston and then twice more after being signed by the Buffalo Bills for the second act of his career. He had just one pass deflection, nine tackles, and three stuffs. But despite Flowers' emergence as a game-changer down the stretch of the 2016 season, the Patriots will have a clear need at the position behind him.
"There is no reason why I shouldn't have been on the field", House told the Times-Union.
Beachum, 27, signed a one-year prove-it deal after suffering a torn ACL playing for Pittsburgh in 2015 and had mixed results. At most Albert was in Miami for two more seasons if he stayed healthy. He also has 6.5 sacks over this span of time.
Albert, 32, has a $10.6 million for the 2017 season.
