As of right now, Dodge hasn't given the specifics on this Drag Mode, but they say that they will share more about it in the coming weeks. Dubbed "Third Law", the 20-second clip showcases the car's suspension system and ends with a photo of the Demon doing a massive burnout at the drag strip. The company describes it as the first example of "mechanical/electronic drag-race-specific suspension tuning" in a production auto.
Another Thursday means more Demon propaganda from the horsepower fetishists at Dodge.
The automaker is holding back on details but says the combination of the unique suspension setup and drag mode optimizes weight transfer and traction at the rear with minimal effects on lateral stability.
February 23, 2017, Auburn Hills, Mich. - The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat's supercharged HEMI® produces all the power required to run quicker and faster quarter-mile ETs than its balanced suspension and tuning enable. The result is that owners of the Demon will be able to launch their cars efficiently and in a more controllable manner.
The Demon accomplishes this thanks to a so-called drag-tuned suspension setup - adaptive Bilstein dampers work in concert with softer springs and anti-roll bars to maximize weight transfer and keep the auto as stable as possible off the line. In case you have been living under a rock, Dodge has rolled out a new teaser video each week since January 12.
