Cristiano Ronaldo blocked Pogba's Real Madrid move

Karim Benzema scored twice as Real Madrid overcame the absence of injured Cristiano Ronaldo and suspended Gareth Bale to beat Eibar.

Ronaldo wasn't fit for the match but should be back this week, while Bale was serving the first match of his two-match suspension for his red card against Las Palmas midweek. James fired towards goal from the edge of the box, his effort cannoned off the post and into Asensio's path.

Ruben Pena bundled in a consolation goal for Eibar in the 72nd minute but Real still recorded their biggest win since beating Real Sociedad 3-0 in January.

It is no secret that Zinedine Zidane is a long time admirer of his compatriot and that he would have signed Pogba for Real Madrid last summer.

Barcelona host Celta Vigo tomorrow night, while Sevilla are not in action until Monday when they travel to Copa del Rey finalists Alaves.

His Madrid counterpart Bale is set to miss important games against Eibar and Real Betis but is eligible for the Champions League clash with Napoli for the Whites. But we have played very well here, with intensity.

Zidane felt Madrid had reacted in the ideal way after Wednesday's 3-3 home draw against Las Palmas.

"I know what it is like having played there for ten years", added Salgado, who will play against the likes of Owen, another former Madrid team-mate in Roberto Carlos and Steven Gerrard at Star Sixes.

"I am not going to tell you what I said, but we are annoyed [at the reports]", he said.

"The team started very clear in their ideas, went for the game, pressed in their half, and won the second balls which were fundamental".

Yet, lesser teams have upset Real Madrid in the past, and at 7th place, Eibar could give the once unstoppable Real Madrid their third loss of the season. "Every game is important but the most important thing is that our players are ok, and so we'll wait and see what we do with Cristiano".

According to Marca journalist Carlos Carpio, the risk of Real Madrid losing Isco to the Premier League this summer is "very high".
