Users will also have the ability to filter, sort and search items by a guaranteed delivery date and if items do not arrive on time, the firm said "eBay will make it right".
"Under the new eBay program, if a product doesn't arrive in the guaranteed time, both eBay and the seller will chip in to refund shipping costs".
"At launch, eBay will guarantee delivery in three days or less on 20 million eligible items - millions of which will offer free shipping", the company said. Considering Amazon and UPS are working on drone shipping, eBay's Guaranteed Delivery may be too little, too late. The buyer will also be able to return the item at no cost. Consumers using the eBay site will be able to search for items by guaranteed delivery date. Amazon offers free budget shipping on millions of items, and free two-day shipping for Amazon Prime members.
To take on Amazon and Walmart, eBay vows to get items delivered in three-days or less, the online retailer announced.
Many delivery complaints are outside the U.S..
One analyst questioned whether the move would appeal to eBay customers. I know not all sellers are set up for this and also that many believe their customer don't want or need a next day service, but for those who can offer it, eBay are doing a disservice to buyers by not letting me search for products from these sellers. Year-to-date, EBAY has gained 14.05%, versus a 6.07% rise in the benchmark S&P 500 index during the same period. However, it said that the sellers would have to meet a necessary set of shipping standards to have their items listed as part of the new delivery program.
eBay is taking the fight to Amazon and its subscription-based Prime membership program by announcing that it's now going to provide three-day "Guaranteed Delivery" on more than 20 million items. eBay is going to roll out Guaranteed Delivery in the United States this summer, it says that this will provide faster and more precise delivery dates for customers.
