As LeFou is being called the first gay character in a Disney movie, Trini is characterized as the first gay character in a superhero film.

In addition to the change made to the LeFou character, the new film included other changes as well, with Belle being an inventor instead of Maurice, and the addition of more character backstory.

Malaysian theater chain Golden Screen Cinemas announced on Twitter that Beauty and the Beast would be shown in full in theaters without cuts.

CITY | The Kuwait National Cinema Company said on Tuesday it has chose to ban Disney's hit movie "Beauty and the Beast", citing its "responsibilities" despite it already having been screened. The Independent reports, however, that Beauty and the Beast will be shown in Malaysia without any changes to the film's content, albeit with a PG-13 rating.

Abdul Halim couldn't immediately be reached for comment. The official, who declined to be identified because he wasn't authorised to speak to the media, said the appeal committee had different members than the earlier group that wanted the scene cut.

Despite the "gay moment" controversy, the movie shattered box office records in its opening weekend, taking a monster $175.7 million in North America and $357 million in total, according to industry data released on Monday.

Russian Federation approved the movie but banned children under 16 from watching it without the accompaniment of someone over 16.

Kuwait's National Cinema Company said Tuesday it would not be bringing the film back to audiences "in tandem with our values and responsibility toward our younger audiences". "Second is the suggestive song lyrics with sexual innuendos, and the third is a scene that takes place at the end of the movie".

Beauty And The Beast, the romantic fantasy film starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in lead roles, has received a new release date in Malaysia.
