Carolina Panthers fans might only have seen Malachi Dupre if they were watching LSU running back Leonard Fournette's film, but he is certainly on the radar of Carolina's staff.
Former Alabama standout safety Landon Collins was drafted by the New York Giants at the top of the second round and has developed into one of the game's best at the position. The projected top ten pick in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft weighed in 12 pounds lighter than he did at the scouting combine, but made it clear he will find success at any weight at the next level.
While the school-provided number was more likely in the 4.4 range, Adams' run secured his status as a top prospect in this draft class.
Fournette weighed 228 pounds, 12 below his surprisingly high weight of 240 at the National Football League combine in March.
"I think some of them wanted me to just see if I could get down to that size", Fournette said. "I definitely put my mind to it and I had a great outcome". It really doesn't matter. Despite the injury, he finished his 32-game Tigers career fourth all-time at LSU in yards rushing with 3,830. Say what you want about his final season at LSU, where he was still running for 6.53 yards per carry while hurt basically the whole season. Not only did Fournette decline to jump again, but he also opted against participate in the broad jump or any of the cone drills - tests he also declined to perform at the Combine. He posted seven interceptions in his one season starting with the Buckeyes, and any concerns over his limited experience in the Ohio State secondary can be answered by the game tape, which shows outstanding ball skills.
