The Warriors play the first of three-straight home games to finish out the regular season when they host the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night.
The team said that if Durant exits Friday's practice without issue, he will play in Saturday's game at Oracle Arena.
Coach Steve Kerr said Durant, who scrimmaged in a 5-on-5 situation, has no minute restrictions because his knee ligament is fully healed.
"If he gets worn out, then I'm going to take him out", Kerr said. With Steph Curry (knee) doubtful, Durant is positioned to put up solid fantasy numbers right out of the gate. If somebody takes your job away, something happens and you can't be able to do what you want to do every single day, sometimes your patience runs thin a little bit. "That day is here and I'm thankful".
The Warriors head coach said that these three games are flawless for Durant to get his conditioning, timing and rhythm before the Playoffs.
Durant said at times during his rehabilitation that he almost went "over the deep end" with not being able to play. Kerr said he fell on it several times Wednesday at Phoenix. "I didn't know what was going on".
Otherwise, Durant said he knew he could overcome the injury. At 65-14, the Warriors would play the Portland Trailblazers if the playoffs began today.
"Obviously I wanted to be out there playing".
Still, it's hard to think they wouldn't welcome back the 25.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 1.6 blocked shots per game Durant brings to the floor. I figured that at some point I would get better. It was something I had never felt before, never heard before. The Warriors are probably going to be without their superstar signal caller against the New Orleans Pelicans because of a knee contusion.
