Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is set to undergo surgery on his injured left knee on Tuesday as he looks to make a full recovery from the setback.
Press Association Sport understands the Senegal global, who turned 25 on Monday, will go under the knife in London having suffered meniscus damage in a challenge with Everton's Leighton Baines during the Merseyside derby earlier this month.
Mane opened the scoring early on in the clash with Liverpool's city rivals but limped off the field 12 minutes into the second half following a challenge by Everton full-back Leighton Baines.
Klopp conceded after the match that it was "pretty much impossible for him to play again this season" and the player is not set to travel to London on Tuesday for an operation to fix the meniscus in his left knee.
The Senegal international's damaged meniscus will be operated upon in London on Tuesday as he aims to be in contention for Liverpool's pre-season campaign.
Losing Mane for the remainder of the campaign was a cruel blow for Liverpool, with the Senegal global having made a tremendous impact since his switch from Southampton.
"He will get a longer break and will be ready for next season", the German said.
He leads Liverpool with 13 league goals, and has added five assists, in helping them to third place in the table. "That is the only good news".
