"The party must now prepare to fight polls in not only Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka but also continue political work in Kerala, West Bengal, Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh", said Mr. Prasad, quoting Mr Shah. Amit Shah said that we need to work toward this.
An impressive show by the BJP in recent local body polls in the State, and internal fights in the BJD have boosted its morale.
The dominant mood of the party was reflected in the presidential address delivered by Amit Shah. "After the results of the 2017 [Assembly] elections, again, it was claimed that the party has peaked", Mr. Prasad said.
"The Union Ministers, Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers coming here to attend the BJP's national executive meeting will be treated as State guests", said the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
The executive meets against the backdrop of the party's stunning win in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand besides maiden conquest in Manipur. The party feels that the momentum should be continued in order to consolidate its position in these states. "We condemn it as such an act is against the culture and tradition of Odisha", senior BJP leader Suresh Pujari said. This only will bring BJP's "golden era".
In the panchayat elections in the state in February, the saffron party was unable to win a higher number of seats than the Biju Janata Dal, which has been in power in Odisha for the past 17 years.
The state BJP has mobilized around one lakh people, at least 50 each from all the organizational units across the state, to greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he arrives at Bhubaneswar this afternoon.
Exhorting delegates to strive hard to build upon the momentum, and ensure the party's decisive presence across the country, Shah asked all national executive members to travel to different parts of India for a minimum of 15 days. He also paid floral tributes to the freedom fighters and illustrious sons of the soil on his way to the Raj Bhavan. "Modi, ' "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and 'Bande Mataram" rent the air.
13 chief ministers of the party, the most BJP has ever had, were also in the audience.
Talking about the work done by Modi government in the last three years, Shah said that the kind and amount of work done by the Narendra Modi government in the last three years would take other parties two to three terms to match. Never in the BJP history, the national executive had so many people in power.
