The suspect's DNA is a 1:108 quintillion match to that found on Marcotte's hands when she fought her killer last summer. On Saturday, Early said DNA taken from Marcotte's hands during an autopsy helped solve the case.
Angel Cordero Ortiz, 31, is the name of the suspect reportedly arrested.
Her body was found in a remote, wooded area a half mile away later that evening. DA Early said an alert state trooper in Worcester saw a man and a auto that matched the Marcotte murder suspect's description, and did a cheek DNA swab test that eventually led to Ortiz's arrest.

"We got him", Early said. Early said that he anticipates bringing a murder charge against Colon-Ortiz as the investigation progresses.
Prosecutors have charged Colon-Ortiz with aggravated assault, aggravated assault and battery, and assault with the intent to rape.
Police later visited the driver's residence, and eventually obtained a voluntary DNA sample through a mouth swab.
State police detectives and local police previously said they received more than 1,300 tips in the case.
Colon-Ortiz was picked up from his residence in Worcester late on Friday night, placed under arrest this morning, and is being held at the Millbury State Police barracks pending arraignment at Leominster District Court on Tuesday.
"Ms. Marcotte's family waited, waited and hoped", said Col. Rick McKeon of Massachusetts State Police.
Princeton residents said they're relieved to hear about an arrest in the case.
