The Chicago Bulls took a 2-0 lead on the Boston Celtics with their victory Tuesday night, and Rondo was, arguably, the best player on the floor.
There are many who consider Bill Russell the greatest National Basketball Association player of all time. Rondo's night ended with 11 points and 14 assists on a night when all five Bulls starters reached double figures.
Dwyane Wade also scored 22 points, while Rajon Rondo had a vintage performance against his former team. "That's where your confidence always comes from".
But perhaps the most encouraging sign for the Bulls is that the Three Alphas played with chemistry and consistency in Game 2.
Boston absolutely has other issues to address moving forward in this series, especially the question of who will step up when Isaiah Thomas is on the bench (the Celtics were outscored 27-11 without Thomas on Sunday).
Bobby Portis feeling good after the Chicago Bulls defeated the Boston Celtics in Game One of the Eastern Conference Semi-finals. But Paul Zipser picked up the slack in Game 2, scoring 16 points in 29 minutes.
In Toronto, Kyle Lowry bounced back from a lackluster game one as the Raptors beat the Bucks 106-100 to level their series at one game each. The Bulls are playing the one seed Boston Celtics, who finished the regular season 53-29.
The Celtics don't have a deep roster of big men to rely on to keep the Bulls of the glass.
"When I'm open, I normally shoot the ball", Butler said. "As a polished team we have to know when to take those shots and when not to".
Harden had nine assists and seven rebounds, and Beverley, who had the unenviable task of guarding Westbrook, had a playoff career-best 21 points along with 10 rebounds. That put Chicago back in the postseason, after missing out a year ago for the first time since 2008.
Although they're up 2-0 in this series, the Bulls know there is still a lot of work left to be done.
"We've got a great group of guys in here", Kelly Olynyk said.
"[The Bulls] came in and took [it], and we have to do the same thing", Crowder said.
The Celtics released the statement hours after Thomas departed for Tacoma, Washington to be with his grieving family, ESPN reported. You never want to give up the momentum as the first seed, in this way, to an eighth seed, but you particularly don't want to do it in a way that seems sustainable.
"We have to play hard no matter what", Bradley said. You've got to block out sooner than that. And the noise is not going to be for you. "The best teams overcome any type of adversity".
