Chelsea failed to have a single shot on target in a Premier League game for the first time since another 2-0 loss to United in September 2007.
Things didn't get much better when the Red Devils faced Chelsea in the FA Cup quarter-finals last month and, largely in thanks to an early Ander Herrera red card, fell to another defeat, this time 1-0. "They showed more desire, more ambition, more motivation", said Conte. "I think we have improved a lot since then". "The league is open and we have a 50 percent (chance) to win the league".
And, unsurprisingly, Chelsea's defeat at United on Sunday went down well with several Spurs supporters on Twitter, with many looking forward to their potentially season-defining FA Cup semi-final meeting between the two at Wembley next weekend...
Conte, who won three Serie A titles in charge of Juventus, insisted the pressure of the title battle would not get to him.
The former Juventus coach said he was not anxious about the pressure mounting over the final six games, however.
Ashley Young, United's captain after coming in as one of Mourinho's alterations, saw his cross-shot only just evade Rashford in the Chelsea box and then fired wide from Paul Pogba's pass as the hosts' lightning start continued.
"The result means we keep two windows open to play Champions League football", Mourinho said.
"Only the decision that made us play with 10 men for the second half, plus some minutes in the first half, gave Chelsea a chance to be dominant, but we knew that if we played this way then it would be very hard for them".
"For this reason we must have great enthusiasm to play these last six games". We gave them problems when they had the ball because we controlled very well and we gave them problems when we recovered the ball because we were really sharp and fast and aggressive in our transitions. United's unbeaten run in the league extended to 22 games, the longest in Europe's top five leagues.
"I think everyone is concentrated for this end of the season because we know we play for two big opportunities".
"So, I am very happy with the performance".
"I think we need a little bit more quality and different qualities in some positions for next the season to make the squad stronger but in terms of character and the human side of the group, I have one of the best groups ever".
