Robertson was suspended from the team after the incident on Sunday, April 9, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Nothing was submitted to the Prosecutor's Office at the time, but now police said they have handed the criminal sexual assault case over to the prosecutor. It's not clear when Robertson will be arraigned.
Last Thursday, Meridian Township Police announced they were investigating a sexual assault that involved a player that was unrelated to the earlier case. He is the fourth Michigan State football player suspended amid sexual assault allegations this year. The former 4-star prospect out of Fort Wayne, Indiana was a member of the Class of 2016 for MSU, but did not sign on National Signing Day, due to battery charges when he reportedly touched a female classmate inappropriately during his senior year in high school.
"We will continue to educate and enforce high standards for the program", Dantonio said, via MLive.com.
In March, Robertson entered a diversionary program.
Michigan State did not immediately comment following Friday's announcement. Arrest warrants alleging sexual crimes were issued for three of the unidentified players and one was issued for a non-sexual crime. I expect all of our players to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values and principles of Michigan State University. The student who said she was sexually assaulted reported what happened, and the university has two investigations ongoing.
