She also played mother to Shah Rukh Khan (Kal Ho Naa Ho), Kajol (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai), Madhuri Dixit ( Hum Aapke Hain Koun.!) and Govinda (Deewana Mastana).
Talking about "Naamkarann", the show is going through an interesting twist, where Dayawanti will get to know that instead of her grand daughter Riya (played by Nalini Negi), it is her illegitimate grand-daughter Avni who has married Neil (played by Zain Imam).
Actress Reema Lagoo, who made audiences laugh with her performances in Tu Tu Main Main and Shrimaan Shrimati, passed away due to a cardiac arrest at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH) at the age of 59 years.
Lagoo was admitted to the hospital late last night after she complained of chest pain, the hospital's Executive Director Ram Naraian told PTI. She complained of chest pain on Wednesday and was rushed to the hospital where she breathed her last. The actor who was accompanied by his wife Kiran Rao.
In her Bollywood career spanning over nearly four decades, Reema has been viewers' favourite on-screen mom. I still remember what she told me when she met me at my office, "Are you going to oversee the making of the show?"
Lagoo portrayed grey shades playing Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan's mother in the 1994 film Yeh Dillagi, and also while essaying mother to Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Mohnish Behl in the 1999 Rajshri release Hum Saath Saath Hain. Her role in Vaastav, where she played Shanta, mother of protagonist Raghu (Sanjay Dutt), will always be remembered for the strong portrayal of a mother to a wayward son. Aamir said, "My first film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was with Reemaji, she was a great actor". I personally think she was really pretty, with her light eyes and lovely features.
Arsheen Namdaar, who used to play Reema's granddaughter in the TV show Naamkarann, is equally shocked on this sudden mishap.
Madhur Bhandarkar: "Sad to hear about Reema Lagoo. But I feel she left us a little too soon". Her demise is saddening. "She was someone who never feared appreciating other person's work", Sonali said. Only then will I say yes. "I had the privilege of directing her.#RIPReemaLagoo". Her loss is also palpable in Marathi cinema and theatre.
