5-time champ Williams faces Britain's Konta at Wimbledon

Twenty years after her Wimbledon debut, Venus Williams will go in search of a sixth crown on Saturday after ending Johanna Konta's dream of a home Grand Slam title with a 6-4, 6-2 semifinal win Thursday.

- Venus, 37, became the oldest grand slam women's finalist since Martina Navratilova at 1994 Wimbledon.

She won her first Wimbledon title in 2000, fifth in 2008 and finished runner-up in 2009.

Wimbledon 2017, Women's Singles semi-finals, live scores and updates: Women's Singles semifinals between Garbine Muguruza vs Magdalena Rybarikova and Venus Williams vs Johanna Konta.

Konta battled back on Tuesday to win a pulsating encounter with Simona Halep 6-7 (2/7) 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 and become the only British woman to make the last four of the singles at SW19 since Virginia Wade in 1978.

Rain is forecast through the day, with play to begin on Centre Court under the roof cover.

Williams' 87th match win at Wimbledon took her past Serena into sole possession of first place among active players. "One more win would be incredible".

The American broke Konta in the final game of the first set, and then broke for the third time in the final game of the match. I'm happy with the matches I played, the way I rose to each challenge.

As Konta struggled with the home pressure, Williams was thriving and she nailed victor after winner with her piercing forehands proving a potent weapon.

"I think he did a tremendous job with me in working on my happiness as a person, as a human being, as dealing with life in general". I've been a part of some great moments and exciting moments in other events, as well. It won't be a given but I'll give it my all.

Konta has earned $5.1m (£3.9m) in her career to date, with $1.9m (£1.4m) pocketed this year ahead of Wimbledon. "In that sense, I guess it makes it that much sweeter".

"The crowd was very nice to me", informed Venus.

"I feel quite capable, to be honest, and powerful", she said. I miss Serena terribly, I wish she was here. She showed a lot of courage, played in tough situations against players who were in form. I just have to be more relaxed and more belief in myself.
