White House may address immigration legislation in news briefing

Golf.com reports that during a recent visit to his New Jersey golf club (which Trump has visited four times since his inauguration), the president told fellow members the reason why he frequents his own properties.

But the vote in Congress was a strong sign that lawmakers do not trust Trump to stand up to Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom Trump has repeatedly praised, and the widening federal investigation into possible coordination past year between his presidential campaign and Moscow.

"The president weighed in, as any father would, based on the limited information that he had", said Sanders at Tuesday's press briefing after stating that the statement was "true" and contained no "inaccuracy". That disclosure prompted Trump Jr.to correct his public statements.

"The Republican Congress must not permit the Trump White House to wriggle out of its duty to impose these sanctions for Russia's brazen assault on our democracy", said House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Trump Jr. was reportedly in the meeting with Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and then-campaign manager Paul Manafort.

Trump Jr. ultimately released copies of the email exchange he had with publicist Rob Goldstone before the meeting, in which Goldstone said that a Russian government attorney had information that was part of Russia's efforts to help Trump's candidacy.

Trump worked with aides on the statement on Air Force One while returning to the US from the Group of 20 Summit in Hamburg on July 8.

While it's not illegal for Trump to mislead the press, the revelation may draw more attention from Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating the campaign's ties to Russian Federation.

Sanders disputed suggestions that the statement saying the meeting was primarily about Russian adoptions was misleading.

Bush's former ethics chief has slammed Donald Trump, stating he'd like the president's administration to go one week "without obstructing justice".

Throughout the investigation, the president denied any involvement in or knowledge of the meeting. "I'm assuming that was between Donald Trump Junior, between Don Junior and his lawyer".

But on Tuesday, Sanders blamed Democrats and the media for pursuing a bogus story.
