In his opening remarks for the Ministerial Meeting, Tillerson said that among the issues that have been discussed between him and the ASEAN officials involve "a number of security interest, of mutual interest, and a number of economic areas of interest".
"We are confident that there is no alternative to the resumption of political process, particularly the six-party talks", the Kremlin-funded news agency TASS reported Lavrov as having said.
Washington cites the conflict as a key obstacle to improved relations between Russian Federation and the United States.
"We felt that our American counterparts need to keep the dialogue open", Lavrov said.
A generally acceptable resolution of the North Korean issue may be achieved through by means of a sensible approach to the problem of all involved parties, including the United States, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.

Lavrov's upbeat assessment came amid what the US has called a diplomatic low point unseen since the end of the Cold War.

Deep differences between the US and Russian Federation remain, Tillerson said, although he added that the two nations still have important security issues to discuss. Russian Federation and the USA should not "just cut everything off on one single issue" like Ukraine, Tillerson said.
This led to Congress passing fresh US sanctions against Russian Federation last month that has led to Moscow moving to expel hundreds of USA diplomats and seize two USA facilities in Russian Federation.
The Syrian cease-fire reflected a return of U.S. -Russia cooperation to lower violence there.
Russian Federation has furiously denied reports, endorsed by U.S. intelligence agencies, that it attempted to swing last year's USA presidential in favour of the eventual victor, President Donald Trump.
"We would be interested to see what impression the USA special envoy has on the current state of affairs", Lavrov said.
