Consumer Reports said that responses to its annual survey revealed that consumers weren't pleased with their Microsoft products during the lifetime of ownership. The company's best bet would likely be to mass survey its customers itself and counter with its own findings if they happen to be any better.
The new studies of laptop and tablet reliability leverage data on 90,741 tablets and laptops that subscribers bought new between 2014 and the beginning of 2017.
Consumer Reports earlier reverted its impressions of Apple's 2016 MacBook Pro but the survey has been unable to provide a recommendation for Microsoft's Surface lineup. The news is headlined by a two-year problem report rate of 25%, suggesting that a quarter of all Surface owners will experience problems with their devices by their second year of ownership.
Apple remains the most reliable laptop and tablet brand, according to Consumer Reports' survey. "We don't believe these findings accurately reflect Surface owners' true experiences or capture the performance and reliability improvements made with every Surface generation", the company said.
Microsoft entered the hardware market with its first Surface tablet in 2012.

Of course, a Microsoft representative provided Consumer Reports with a public statement via email. "Based purely on lab performance, the Surface Pro is highly rated when used either as a tablet or with a keyboard attached", the release said. A few commented that their machines froze or shut down unexpectedly, while several others told us the touch screens weren't responsive enough.
Consumer Reports pulled recommendation of the 128GB and 256GB versions of the Microsoft Surface Laptop and the 128GB and 512GB versions of the Surface Book.
As much as I love my surface book it's extremely frustrating to have to constantly take a trip up to the Microsoft store to get my device replaced when my sister and friends have Macbooks that seem to last them years.
