The jackpot has been growing since June 10 and this will be the 19th time the jackpot has rolled over. That projected jackpot for Saturday's drawing is $510 million. It's the fifth largest jackpot in Powerball history and the eighth largest USA lottery jackpot.
But don't despair yet: A single ticket sold in IL matched all six numbers in Friday's Mega Millions lottery drawing with a jackpot worth $393 million. "OMG Nobody won the #POWERBALL last night New estimated total to win this Saturday is $510,000,000 HALF A BILLION!"
The last MI player to win the Powerball jackpot was Julie Leach, of Three Rivers. The cash value: $324.2 million.
Powerball is played in 44 states plus D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The drawing comes after two weeks of lottery one-upsmanship between Powerball and Mega Millions.
There was no overall victor in Wednesday night's Powerball drawing, sending the jackpot soaring past $500 million. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 24.87.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338. So, if you were lucky enough to win both, all of your problems would have quickly evaporated.
