Nancy Pelosi shouted down at DACA news conference for working with Trump

Pelosi was attending an an event in San Jose with California Reps.

Pelosi, standing behind a podium decorated with a sign that said #protectdreamers, said "Make America dream again".

Pelosi was holding the conference with fellow California Democratic House members Barbara Lee and Jared Huffman to call for the passage of the DREAM Act, which would allow recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) and other undocumented immigrants brought to the USA as minors to remain in the country.

In addition to ensuring recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program can stay in the country, Trump's apparent agreement to work with Democrats reportedly includes tougher border security measures, something immigration advocates say is a non-starter. DACA has been controversial since former President Barack Obama implemented the policy because of questions regarding its constitutionality.

"Where was your resistance then?" the protesters said to Pelosi. Some House Democrats agree with the activists that concessions on border security should only come as part of a much bigger deal to grant status to some 11 million undocumented immigrants. "They won't listen to any response.they don't know what we've done".

She had begun her speech, calling dreamers courageous. Other reporters said the group chanted "shut down ICE". "We all are fighting for comprehensive immigration reform", Pelosi said.

"Democrats created an out-of-control deportation machine", the protesters yelled.

The group of young US residents in the country illegally and their supporters carried signs and shouted things like, "Shut down ICE" and "You're a liar" at Pelosi and the other lawmakers taking part in the event.

"Let me say this, because you've had your say, and it's lovely to our ears to hear you protecting your self dignity", Pelosi began.
