Heather Unruh, a former anchor with WCVB-TV, said Wednesday her son was assaulted by Spacey a year ago at a Nantucket bar.
A former TV news anchor said Wednesday that Kevin Spacey sexually assaulted her teenage son a year ago at a Nantucket restaurant, adding to mounting allegations of misconduct against the "House of Cards" actor.
Kevin Spacey has at least one person defending him from the onslaught of sexual misconduct allegations, of varying degrees of severity.
"Nothing could have prepared my son for the way that would make him feel as a man", Unruh told reporters. She said that her "star-struck, straight" son, "who had no idea that the famous actor was an alleged sexual predator or that he was about to become his next victim", had met Spacey at the Club Car restaurant.
"The climate in this country has changed now", she said. "But the climate in this country has changed now thanks to the courageous women and all sexual abuse victims who have come forward with their accusations against Harvey Weinstein and other sexual abusers".
Shortly after the alleged event occurred last summer, Unruh said she informally spoke with the Nantucket sheriff and only officially reported the matter last week. It started October 29 when actor Anthony Rapp said in a Buzzfeed News interview that Spacey had tried to molest him more than 30 years ago when he was 14 and Spacey was 26.
Since then, numerous men have come forward to say that Spacey harassed or assaulted him, including men on the set of Spacey's hit Neflix show "House of Cards".
Seated to her right at the press briefing was attorney Mitchell Garabedian, who has years of experience having represented victims of sexual abuse by the Catholic Church.
"The sexual assaults, the sexual harassment, the sexual perversion must be stopped, and one way to stop it is for courageous victims and their families to speak out so that children are safe, other victims are empowered and the victims themselves are emboldened", Garabedian said.
The writer also compared Spacey to the Dalai Lama, who likely "has done something he's ashamed of".
"The #weinsteinscandal has emboldened me- #truth time".

"I want to see Kevin Spacey go to jail".
Mr Spacey and surrogates have not specifically addressed any other allegations since Mr Spacey responded to Mr Rapp's accusation.
Since the allegations surfaced, Netflix has severed its ties with the actor, and the producers of his show, "House of Cards", have suspended him "effective immediately".
