The AIADMK rank and file, led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, has since split with the Sasikala family and joined hands with the former rebels, led by O Panneerselvam. It is now being controlled by jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala's family members, led by her nephew Vivek Jayaraman.
Notably, all these are being run by TTV Dhinakaran's faction.
A number of allegations have been made against the Channel, including, and not limited to shell companies, fudging of accounts, fund flow, tax evasion etc.
He said he and his family had been experiencing such things for over three decades and that they will deal with it legally and not be cowed down.
These raids are conducted after media reports of alleged tax evasion surfaced.
Dhinakaran, who emerged out from his home, said his house was not raided by the Income Tax but some of his properties including a farm house in Puducherry were raided by Income Tax department due to political vendetta by the present government. A senior official, speaking about the sudden actions has said, "The IT raids against 10 groups (including Jaya TV) are on at 187 locations in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi".
Income Tax (I-T) department is conducting raids at All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Karnataka in-charge V Pugazhendi's residence at Damlur locality of Bangalore.
Income Tax officials are also conducting a search at the residence of V.Dhivakaran, brother of V.K.Sasikala, at Sundarakottai near Mannargudi. "People who don't want us to remain in politics are threatening us through I-T raids". Soon after IT authorities arrived at his home in Adyar in high-class south Chennai, Dinakaran said the raids were politically launched.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy too tried to wade into the controversy nearly claiming as if the raids were a reaction to his complaints against Sasikala made in a court but at the same time also lamenting why similar action was not being taken against Karunanidhi and his daughter, 2G scam accused M Kanimozhi. Since her death, they have been used as a tool in the factional war for the control of the AIADMK.
