Today marks Giving Tuesday, a movement that was begun in 2012 by technology website Mashable and other primarily technology companies and organizations as a counter to the commercialism and consumerism that has overtaken the holidays.

While Black Friday and Cyber Monday kick off holiday shopping, #GivingTuesday helps welcome in the charitable side of the season. In that spirit, TechCo has chose to showcase a few charitable startups that will make your holiday season that much brighter.

Whether you're a rookie or an experienced philanthropist, CariClub can help you find your passion and make a difference.

If you weren't prepared for this "Giving Tuesday" event, you don't have to wait until next year. This online professional network pairs young professionals at partner corporations with nonprofits seeking associate board members.

Instead of taking a flat fee, donors are prompted to contribute to YouCaring via a voluntary donation if they see fit. But with all of the charities out there, how do you choose? PAWS kittens will also be available for individual cuddle sessions for a $10 suggested donation. There is no risk and it will never cost you more than buying from the official retailer. And time is money as they say.
