Hamas vows retaliation to Israeli attacks amid tension

Israeli soldiers' gunfire wounded six Palestinian men east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip, adding one was shot in abdomen and is in critical condition, Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of Gaza's Health Ministry told reporters.

"The Hamas terror organization is the address and is responsible for anything that occurs in the Gaza Strip", the military stressed.

Israeli police on Saturday said that one of two rockets fired from the Gaza strip on Friday was found in the courtyard of a vacant kindergarten in southern Israel.

He said the tunnel was not complete, but was "very substantial", equipped with electricity, communications equipment and a ventilation system. "The IDF (Israel Defence Forces) will continue to discover, expose and demolish these terror tunnels", he said.

Shortly afterwards, the army said it had identified a second launch from the Hamas-controlled enclave, but had not yet identified where it landed.

The discovery was made several weeks ago with the help of advanced technology, the IDF statement said.

Members of the Hamas terror group's military wing carry the body of their comrade Mohamed al-Safadi, who was killed the previous day in an Israeli air strike after rockets was sacked from Gaza into Israel, during his funeral in Gaza City on December 9, 2017.

It was the second such operation in recent weeks, with the last tunnel destroyed on October 30.

Israel has placed a high priority on halting the tunnel threat since Hamas infiltrated Israel during the 2014 war.
