Lankford now also faces charges of harboring a vicious animal after authorities said his two pit bulls attacked a couple and killed a woman.
Two Bell County deputies responded to the scene Sunday morning in Arjay and discovered the woman and her husband "had been savagely attacked" by two pit bulls, the sheriff's department said in a statement.
Johnny Dale Lankford, 42, was charged with harboring a vicious animal, according to the Bell County Sheriff's Department. "That's what she was doing this morning and two dogs attacked her while she was doing that".
Lorraine was confirmed dead at the scene, by the Bell County coroner, at 10.40am. "They were both active within the community and just, like I said, two of the nicest people you would ever meet".
In that instance, their owner had left them with their dad while she took care of personal issues.
Animal control and the Bell County Sheriff's Department are now searching for the brown Pit bull. "She anxious more about neighbors and friends than she did herself, as Johnny's the same way, they're just a very giving couple".
This is not the only pit bull attack of the year.
According to deputies, the husband suffered wounds as well, but was able to shoot both dogs killing one while the other ran off near Country Lane. "The deputies determined that the dogs did not belong to the couple".
Police ask anyone who believes they have spotted the animal to immediately call 911 or 606-337-6174.
The toddler had entered a fenced enclosure which housed two pit bull dogs when the creatures started attacking him.
