Humble Brag: Amazon Breaks Down Its Record Holiday Season

Complete figures for holiday 2017 are still being compiled, but Amazon is expected to grab more than 50% of all new digital sales, according to CNBC.

Over 4M people started Prime trials (free or paid) in one week.

Amazon does not disclose how many devices exactly it sells.

A Google spokesperson made a statement regarding its battle with Amazon stating that since Amazon doesn't carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, nor does it make Prime Video available for GoogleCast users, Google is no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and FireTV, 'given this lack of reciprocity'.

Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) releases broad details about its holiday sales period including the fact that millions more Amazon Devices sold in this year's period. Exact numbers haven't been given, but Amazon does say that the Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick were the best-selling products from any manufacturer in any category across all of Amazon.

In 2017, Amazon increased the size of its fulfillment and shipping network by more than 30% in square footage worldwide. Small businesses and entrepreneurs who sell their products on Amazon's platform accounted for almost 140 million items that were ordered.

Amazon's peak day of customer fulfillment in 2017 was December 19.

"Since Day One we have obsessed over what we believe our customers care about-incredible deals and low prices, fast and free shipping, and a wide selection of top products-and we continue to provide all three, all the time". The Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick, and TP-Link Smart Plug Mini were the most ordered items via voice.

While Amazon is a major business, the company said more than half of its online sales are generated through small businesses, much of this via Fulfillment by Amazon.

Shopping on Amazon's mobile app also saw 70 percent growth, representing increasing consumer familiarity with shopping from mobile devices.
