Late goals give Man United 2-0 win over Derby

Manchester United will be hoping to book their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup when they entertain Derby County at Old Trafford on Friday night.

Receiving the ball on the edge of the box, United's outstanding talent of recent weeks curled a majestic effort around a helpless Scott Carson in the Derby goal.

Romelu Lukaku sealed the match in the last minute with a low shot from the centre of the box after being sent through by Anthony Martial following a fast counter-attack, 2-0.

Paul Pogba played in a more advanced position during the impressive win at Everton and I think we'll see the French global continue in that role tomorrow.

"The Championship is coming in a direction where they are Premier League level, they just play in another competition".

England midfielder Lingard let fly from outside the area with six minutes remaining for his fifth goal in his past six outings to finally break the resistance of the spirited Rams.

This match could've been seen as a last chance for Henrikh Mkhitaryan to fight for his place, playing in his favoured central position against lower league opposition, but once again he didn't have the best of halves.

Mkhitaryan eventually got a cross right with 10 minutes of the first 45 left, directing an in-swinger from the left into a crowd of men in the Derby area, and Marcus Rashford rose highest to direct his header onto the post.

Manchester United had the first attempt on goal through captain Pogba firing a straight shot at Carson in the second minute.

Lukaku was next to head wide on 55 minutes, before Thomas Lawrence forced a diving save from Romero.

He even ludicrously took a swipe at club legend Paul Scholes for his criticism of Paul Pogba.

Manchester United are 2/9 favourites to win this FA Cup match whereas Derby are massive odds - 13/1 to win at Old Trafford.
