On Saturday afternoon, wind gusts between 30-40 miles per hour are likely so blowing and drifting snow are also possible creating some visibility issues at times. Most of the cold chills will be in the morning.
We approached record lows tonight at -2 in Boston and -7 in Worcester for air temperatures. The latter is what we deal with today, and with temperatures this afternoon running only in the single digits and lower teens, wind chills will run below 0 all day at -5 to -20. To make you feel even colder there is a cold record that could be set on Saturday detailed in the weather video above. With a predominately westerly wind, any roads that run north to south will likely see reduced visibility from blowing snow and some snow back on the road ways that have already been cleared. Expect mostly sunny skies with a NW wind at 10 to 20 miles per hour. The good news... we will see sunshine all day today! The next chance for precipitation is Monday into early Tuesday with some scattered snow showers early Monday morning, before a chance for rain by Monday afternoon in southeastern MA.
Sunday brings another mostly sunny day, but not almost as brutally cold. Near 50° temps are expected for Tuesday.
