The Surge went relatively quietly into the night during the incredible year that was 2017, which was a shame, as the game proved to be more than just a simple Souls clone. Our journey will now continue with The Surge 2. It will be powered using a new "upgraded and improved engine", and take place in a "sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design". And now we've got word that sequel is in the works, with a release window of 2019. Read it all below. Fans can look forward to more news on "The Surge 2" in the coming days. The second instalment will also be packed with hardcore combat, the limb targeting system, character progression, and more as Deck13 expands on the formula. The new game will also have an expanded limb targeting system for more tactical gameplay.
More information will be released during Focus Home Interactive's press event in France, being held today and tomorrow. Deck13 will talk more about their new title to the worldwide press, so stay tuned.
The Surge released to consoles and PC last May, but didn't manage to capture the best qualities of its main influences, the Souls games.

Those who thought about this title will be happy to find out that there may be hope yet for fundamental improvements because the developer and publisher have now confirmed that they're working on a new title aptly called The Surge 2.
