The company today announced the launch of Google Pay which brings all of the features that Android Pay and Google Wallet users have become accustomed to. One notable change, though, is that the Google Pay home screen now shows you relevant stores around you where you can pay with Google Pay.
As you'd expect, this new update keeps all of Android Pay's best features, including a security feature which uses a different card number from your actual card when shopping in stores. But in today's market, where Venmo and the gig economy are demonstrating the value of personal payments, Google realized a need to bring P-to-P back. Its where all credit and debit cards, loyalty programs, gift cards, and offers are displayed. Even if the app still appears as Android Pay on your phone but as Google Pay on the Play Store, you shouldn't panic as it indicates that the transition is going to happen. Meanwhile, Google Wallet has been renamed to Google Pay Send and will be integrated with the main app soon.
The Google Pay app should come to your device automatically with a software update if it has the Android Pay app installed. This includes inside retail stores and on selected public transit networks in cities such as Kiev, London and Portland.
In a note to longtime Android Pay users, Google noted the features they enjoy will not disappear under the Google Pay brand. Google Pay, however, will offer a bit more functionality and organize things a little differently.Читайте также: Boston Herald pulls Brady hold-out article over questions about source
In the coming months, Google says users in the United States and the U.K. will be able to send money to one another using "Google Pay Send" - Apple offers a similar feature through its Apple Pay Cash platform which launched late a year ago. It also puts everything you need to make a purchase at your fingertips. The Pay with Google API, which allows easier payment data input, is also bundled into Google Pay. Just choose Google Pay at checkout and pay with a few quick clicks instead.
Previously, Google's payments ecosystem has been fragmented between Wallet and Android Pay.
