President Donald Trump of the U.S. when talking on the phone with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on March 20 suggested holding a bilateral meeting in Washington, according to a Kremlin foreign policy adviser, Yuri Ushakov. She says the administration has no further comment on the matter.
Trump specifically invited Putin to the White House during the call, Putin aide Yuri Ushakov told Russian news agencies yesterday.
The White House didn't let US reporters witness the meeting, which was also attended by Russia's then USA ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, while Russian state news services released photographs of it.

"We want to believe that the discussions (on a proposed summit) will begin", Ushakov said. Mr. Ushakov noted that Moscow expected that, despite the unfolding situation, it would be possible to discuss such meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.

The phone call took place less than a week after the United Kingdom expelled 23 Russian diplomats in response to the poisoning of a former Russian spy on British soil.
But their governments did not have time to arrange details before the U.S. expelled 60 Russian diplomats following the Salisbury poisoning, they revealed.
In all, the White House said it expected almost 30,000 adults and children to stream through the gates for the all-day event.
Trump and Putin had a chat on March 20 in when The Donald congratulated him on winning the Russian presidential election two days earlier.
Trump and Putin also spoke past year on the sidelines of global summits in Germany and Vietnam. The last time Putin was in White House was in 2005 when he met with n-president, Republican George W. Bush, at a time of greater closeness between two countries. Moscow responded with departure of same number of U.S. diplomats in Russian Federation and ordered closure of American consulate in St. Petersburg.
