Yankees' home opener postponed due to snow

In 1996, the year the Bombers kick-started their most recent dynasty with a World Series title, their regular season opener in Cleveland was postponed one day because of snow and then their home opener the next week was played despite snowy conditions.

"I've never really played in snow", slugger Aaron Judge, who grew up in California, told the Associated Press. The game was postponed due to weather and rescheduled for Tuesday.

The Yankees will instead open their home slate at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

"Any sports team, especially baseball, I think you just want to play", White Sox manager Rick Renteria said.

With the Toronto Blue Jays struggling to score runs, Kevin Pillar found another way to create some offense.

Smoak went 3 for 4 with a walk and six RBIs in his seventh career multihomer game as Toronto gained a series split, winning the final two games.

Smoak's grand slam occurred after the Yankees opted to intentionally walk Josh Donaldson after Robertson put runners at second and third by allowing a single to Russell Martin and a double to Aledmys Diaz.

It was Drury's first home run as a Yankee.

Smoak won a nine-pitch matchup with David Robertson (0-1) by hitting a full-count fastball into the second deck in center field.

"I was able to have that last good swing on it".

As for trotting out on the base lines for the first time in front of Yankees fans, Boone said he's excited for it. This fan base is wonderful.

The snow fell heavy and quick Monday morning ahead of the Yankees' much-anticipated home opener against Tampa Bay. He has covered the Yankees since 2009.
