Police responding to active shooter at YouTube offices near San Francisco

Police confirmed Tuesday that they are responding to an active shooter at YouTube's California headquarters.

Law enforcement sources told The Los Angeles Times that the shooting appears to be an instance of workplace or domestic violence, not terrorism.

Authorities say a woman believed to be the shooter is dead of a self-inflicted gunshot and four other people have been wounded.

YouTube staff said they had been barricaded in a room to keep them safe before being taken outside. Northern California's Stanford Hospital said it has received four to five patients, but a hospital spokeswoman did not have information on their conditions or their wounds. Two of the victims are female while one is male, he said.

There are multiple gunshot victims being treated at various hospitals in the Bay Area.

Earlier in the afternoon, Vadim Lavrusik, product manager at YouTube, tweeted that he heard shots and saw people running while at his desk around 1 p.m.

A spokesman for San Francisco General Hospital said the facility is receiving patients but would not confirm how many, CBS News reported.

YouTube employees began tweeting there was a shooter on their campus and they were taking shelter around 1 p.m.

Police in San Bruno warned people in a Twitter message to stay away from the address where YouTube, owned by Alphabet Inc's Google (GOOGL.O), is based. The public should stay away from the area. "The fire alarm went off so we started to evacuate and then people (started) running saying there was a shooter".

Employees are exiting the building with their hands up and are being frisked by police.

The world's biggest online video website is located on a suburban campus.

AN active "female" shooter has stormed the offices of YouTube prompting terrified workers to run for their lives.

The ATF is also responding to the shooting.

The White House said President Donald Trump had been briefed and that his administration was monitoring the ongoing situation in San Bruno.
