Danny Welbeck scored twice as Arsenal came from behind to beat Southampton 3-2 at the Emirates this afternoon.
Southampton's defeat kept them in the bottom three, three points behind Crystal Palace but with a game in hand.
But in the Arsenal vs Southampton match Welbeck had the last word by heading in the victor moments after he had missed a much easier chance. "At the start of the game I think people were impatient because we played against a very good team, but at the end of the game when it became more lively the team stood behind the team".
Southampton's survival hopes suffered another blow when defender Jack Stephens was sent off for an off-the-ball clash with Jack Wilshere in stoppage time, with Arsenal's Mohamed Elneny also shown a red card for shoving Cedric Soares in the face.
Arsenal levelled just before the half-hour mark when Welbeck's clever flick allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to scuff the ball past the onrushing Alex McCarthy.Читайте также: Amazon Debuts Alexa Intercom Function, But Only In North America
Welbeck should have grabbed the lead for the home side five minutes later but he failed to convert from with the net gaping.
Charlie Austin restored parity for Southampton in the 73rd minute but Welbeck got the victor eight minutes later from Iwobi's assist.
But Welbeck had the last word - and neatly distilled his Arsenal career - by making amends for a missed open goal seconds earlier by nodding in Iwobi's floated cross to the back post.
With 9 goals and 10 assists for the Gunners this season-despite not featuring in most of their matches since their trip to Southampton on 10th December-Ramsey has the statistics to back up his importance to the team.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
