The allegations were made in a lawsuit filed Monday in U.S. District Court for the Western District of MI that claims three unnamed male basketball players raped her in the spring of 2015 after the Spartans were eliminated from the Final Four by Duke.
Soon after, another basketball player offered to show the woman his basketball memorabilia, according to the lawsuit, and took her into a bedroom. The names of the victim and the accused were not named in the lawsuit, which was filed in a U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids.
The young woman said in the court papers that she accepted a drink from one of the players and agreed to return to an apartment shared by several of them after he falsely told her that her roommate would be there.
"Plaintiff was having a hard time holding on to her glass even though she had not had a lot to drink", the lawsuit states.
The woman's attorney, Karen Truszkowski, told The Associated Press on Monday that she is reserving comment to give MSU "an opportunity to get up to speed and go over it". Speaking with ESPN on condition that she not be identified, she said she anxious they would be charged with underage drinking, and counseling staff did nothing to ease those concerns.
But when she told the counselor that the three attackers were notable MSU basketball players, the counselor suddenly announced she needed another person in the room.Читайте также: Prince Philip to have hip surgery today
After the woman told counsellingcentre staff that basketball players were involved, she said the staff made it clear that if she reported it to police "she faced an uphill battle that would create anxiety and unwanted media attention", according to the lawsuit.
"If you pursue this, you are going to be swimming with some really big fish", an MSU counselor allegedly told the victim, according to the lawsuit. Three former football players pleaded guilty last week to reduced charges in the 2017 sexual assault of a woman in an apartment bathroom.
Former MSU President Lou Anna Simon resigned after it emerged that Nassar, who also worked for the university, was accused of abusing more than 250 girls and women. The woman was crying and could not speak, her lawsuit claims, and she did not consent to the activity. The lawsuit also alleges she was not notified of her federal Title IX rights, protections, and accommodations.
"At no time did Plaintiff indicate she had a romantic interest in any of the team members that approached her", the lawsuit states.
In April 2010, a woman reported to the school's athletic department that she was sexually assaulted by Michigan State student assistant Travis Walton and two players, according to ESPN.
After waking up on a couch in the apartment, the plaintiff, apparently distraught, called a taxi and was later taken by a roommate to report the rape with the school's counseling center. She later withdrew from the university for the fall 2015 semester and resumed classes in 2016 with a different major.
Michigan State went 27-12 that season, finishing third in the Big Ten and reaching the Final Four as a 7-seed in the East Region before getting knocked out of the tournament by eventual-national champion Duke.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
